1 Corinthians 13:2, “And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.”
Jesus died and rose again so that we might be folded into the life of God, which is a life of self-giving love. Doctrine, understanding, knowledge, works of faith, fasting, prayer, teaching studying, ministering etc. etc…..they all matter, they are all good, but they are like fish and the love of God and neighbor poured into our hearts from the risen Christ through the Spirit is like water; without that “water”, all these “fish” will die, dry up, and rot.
May God cut us to the heart with the gospel of His Son and pour into the graciously-dealt wounds His own love for Himself and others.
