“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, 5 who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”
– 1 Peter 1:3-5
The means by which we are guarded from the monsoon of life and brought home to the Lord – the means by which that is accomplished – is the power of God:
“…by God’s power are being guarded…”
However the power of God does this guarding work in us through faith:
“…through faith…”
We will only enter the joy of our Master if our faith has endured to the end…..however, our faith is enabled to endure “by God’s power.”
God gives (Ephesians 2:8-9) and sustains (1 Peter 1:5) our faith….and so we are kept – like a candle flame in a windstorm – kept from stumbling and brought safely home by the sovereign grace of our Lord.
