Isaiah 33:21-22, “But there YHWH in majesty will be for us a place of broad rivers and streams…for YHWH is our judge; YHWH is our lawgiver; YHWH is our king; He will save us.”
This picture is taken from Isaiah 33 where the Lord is talking about the final salvation of His people–a salvation that we know He achieves at the cross. In this picture I wanted to point to two things:
First, the absolute dependence on the LORD as Savior that we see in verse 22 (thus representing the Church as completely helpless, being drawn up from the corruption and opposition of the world). And secondly, I wanted to portray how Isaiah seems to unite our enjoyment of the renewed creation with our enjoyment of God. In the New Heavens and Earth, every atom of reality will be a flawless communicator of the knowledge of the glory of God (Isaiah 11:9)….in other words, every where we turn, every sight we see, every song we hear, every taste we experience–all of it–will be a communication to us of the goodness and beauty of our God in Christ…..To enjoy the mountains and stars and sights and sounds of the New Heavens and earth will be an enjoying of their Creator, without any hint of idolatry or nature worship…..
That seems to be what Isaiah is hinting at in verses 17 and 21 Of chapter 33, so I wanted to show it somehow in this picture. I’m happy to give some more clarification if you are interested!
