Isaiah 43:1, “I have called you by name, you are mine.”
The Christian is not bound to God by their own piety or sincerity, they are bound to Him by His zealous possession of them. They are His….ransomed by the blood of His Son (1 Peter 1:19), hidden in the risen Jesus (Colossians 3:3), sealed by the inhabiting presence of His own Spirit (Ephesians 1:13); we are “His own possession” (1 Peter 2:9). What a place of security and confidence and hope that is!
The Triune God is not indifferent toward our situations….He does not need to be convinced to care for us…He does not need to be reminded of what we need…we are HIS, and He is zealous to guard His own—through suffering into glory, through death into life.
